The Horizon Zero Dawn series serves as a warning against the careless use of AI and the pursuit of technical improvement at the cost of all else. That's why fans of the games find it very ironic Sony used protagonist Aloy to show off its new AI-powered character prototypes. Spoilers ahea
According to a Reddit user, "The entire game is a warning against this kind of nonsense," Another responds, "The irony of this.... hits so hard," You learn that a rogue AI that produces self-replicating robots that consume organic matter destroyed the world in the first Horizon Zero Dawn. I'm not claiming that's what Sony's AI-powered Aloy is, but it does seem odd that the firm is spending time and money creating something that so few players seem to be interested in.
